Lata Mangeshkar to be conferred Bangabibhushan
Fabulous artist Lata Mangeshkar will be given the "Bangabibhushan" grant by the West Bengal government in acknowledgment of her commitment to Bengali melodies, Boss Priest Mamata Banerjee said here on Saturday.
"Lata Mangeshkar has sung countless Bengali melodies. With a specific end goal to respect her commitment, we have chosen to offer the Bangabibhushan honor to her this year," Banerjee told media people at the state secretariat Nabanna.
Banerjee said she has officially addressed Mangeshkar who has consented to acknowledge the honor.
The main priest said she would by and by go to Mumbai and present the honor to the vocalist at her living arrangement after the Durga Puja celebration. Banerjee would be joined by music organization Saregama administrator Sanjiv Goenka.
The prior beneficiaries of the honor started in 2011 incorporate danseuse Amala Shankar, sarod maestro Amjad Ali Khan, prestigious vocalist Sustenance Dey, Aauthor Mahasweta Devi, footballer Sailen Nourishment, hockey Olympian Leslie Claudius, painter Jogen Chowdhury, writr Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, movie producer Goutam Ghosh, Hindustani established music example Ajoy Chakraborty and previous Indian cricket skipper Sourav Ganguly.
